Integrated throughout the project, cork surfaces enhance the store’s sensory experience while reinforcing its connection to nature. Case StudiesLocated in New Bahru, Singapore, the new Soilboy Flagship Store was designed to be much more than a plant shop. Created by SILO | Khoo Guo Jie with Panelogue - Singapore as the distributor, the project translates the brand’s identity into a physical space that brings visitors closer to nature through a carefully curated and immersive experience.
Known for its selection of indoor plants and gardening accessories, Soilboy envisioned a space that would reflect its strong connection to nature. To bring this vision to life, Wicanders cork solutions were selected, specifically Cork Pure Originals Natural and Dekwall Melville Waxed.
Applied on walls and ceilings, these cork surfaces play a central role in defining the character of the interior, contributing to an atmosphere that is both cohesive and deeply connected to the project's biophilic design approach.
Beyond aesthetics, cork also contributes to the overall comfort of the space. Its natural thermal and acoustic insulation properties help create a quieter and more pleasant environment, enhancing the customer experience while reinforcing the sense of wellbeing that lies at the heart of the Soilboy brand. Cork Pure can reduce in-room sound by up to 67% and decrease perceived impact noise in the room below by up to 13 dB/17 ΔIIC, helping create calmer and more comfortable interior environments.
In a project where nature plays a leading role, cork was also a natural choice from a sustainability perspective. As a natural, renewable and recyclable material, it supports a more responsible approach to interior design while delivering long-term performance and durability.
