Cork Set: The Timelessness of Daciano da Costa´s Design With a New Sustainable Approach
From Marble to Cork:
Designed in the 1970s by Daciano da Costa and originally produced in marble, the Cork set now gains a new life through a reissue that combines the timeless design of the author with a more conscious and sustainable approach.
The piece is reinterpreted in cork, a 100% Portuguese material that is lightweight, durable, and renewable, produced in collaboration with Amorim Cork Solutions. This choice not only reinforces the commitment to more sustainable production practices but also highlights the innovative potential of cork, without ever losing fidelity to Daciano da Costa’s aesthetic language.
Perspective of the Daciano da Costa Atelier
Inês Cottinelli, architect and CEO of Atelier Daciano da Costa, explains that the reissue of the Cork set was born from the desire to present a creation by Daciano da Costa from a new material and technological perspective. The original, designed in marble in 1970, served as the starting point for this contemporary interpretation, now made in cork, a sustainable and innovative Portuguese material.
“Cork represents a gesture of continuity, keeping the legacy of one of the greatest names in Portuguese design alive, honoring his memory while at the same time looking toward the future”
