“Brown House,” developed by the BLDUS studio in Washington, DC, has been nominated for the 2025 Dezeen Awards in the House (urban) category. The project, with its intimate character, establishes a harmonious dialogue with the surrounding context through the thoughtful use of materials, light, and architectural proportions.
Farm-To-Shelter
Composed primarily of plant-based and renewable materials, Brown House represents the latest expression of the studio’s farm-to-shelter approach, which adapts the culinary concept of farm-to-table to architecture. Among the materials used, a highlight is Amorim MD Facade®, an expanded cork solution applied as exterior façade cladding that enhances the building’s thermal performance, sustainability, and natural aesthetic identity.
Being named to the longlist of the Dezeen Awards, one of the most prestigious recognitions in the world of design and architecture, is a significant international milestone and reinforces the project’s commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable construction.
