Amorim MD Façade® Brings Natural Warmth to Material Works’ Hackney Garden Studio
Amorim MD Façade® Enhances Sustainability and Style at Material Works’ Hackney Studio
Case StudiesIn Hackney, London, Material Works Architecture has expanded a Victorian home with a contemporary garden studio finished in Amorim MD Facade®.
Located at the end of the garden, the new workspace and music studio is clad in cork panels and topped with timber shingles, creating a calm and naturally insulated retreat that connects effortlessly with its green surroundings.
Architect Dickon Hayward, from Material Works Architecture, explains that the choice of Amorim MD Facade® stemmed from a desire to use cork as an external material.
For the studio, which values well-being and natural materiality, cork proved ideal: it is renewable, low-carbon, visually appealing, provides a tactile warmth, and has a positive impact on the planet.
Cork also contributes to the studio’s sustainability goals, offering efficient thermal and acoustic insulation and aligning with their ongoing pursuit of natural and regenerative materials, particularly for external finishes.
One year after completion, the cork has integrated seamlessly into the garden and demonstrated excellent performance.
“Amorim MD Facade® has aged beautifully over the past year and now fits perfectly within the garden. It has also performed perfectly, protecting the building from weather, noise, and cold”
The Hackney studio stands as an example of how Amorim MD Facade® combines technical performance with natural aesthetics, a renewable, low-carbon material that ages gracefully over time.
