Amorim MD Facade® in the Historic Poids du Foin Building in Vevey, Switzerland
Project and application of Amorim MD Facade®
Design and application of Amorim MD Facade® in the interior of a café-restaurant with a contemporary look and high technical performance Case StudiesAfter more than a year of renovation, the historic Poids du Foin building in Vevey, Switzerland, designed by Nomad Architectes, integrated Amorim MD Facade® expanded cork into its interiors, more specifically on the walls of the restaurant. The patterned version of the product was selected to ensure high acoustic performance, durability, and a unique atmosphere.
Wave Patterns: Designs for Architectural Expression
Designed to host a vibrant café-restaurant, the building features Amorim MD Facade® Wave L2, one of six models available in the decorative patterns range. This collection was created to meet the demands of contemporary architecture, offering a variety of designs that combine creative freedom with high technical performance, suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
Designed by Baptiste Berrut of Nomad Architectes, the project combines heritage, culture, and sustainability with a contemporary interior defined by natural materials.
“We are very pleased with the product and the outcome. The choice of cork was primarily due to acoustic reasons, as well as the material’s durability and the overall atmosphere we wanted to create for the space.”
Sustainable Design and Acoustic Comfort
Amorim MD Facade® goes beyond its aesthetic looks and ensures technical performance - this natural material with a negative carbon footprint combines high durability with excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, ensuring both comfort and sustainability.
During the renovation, the site also became a temporary cultural hub, hosting two outdoor photography exhibitions on the construction barriers, celebrating Vevey’s rich history and its commitment to the arts. This project is yet another example of how cork can elevate interior design — offering a natural aesthetic, meeting customization challenges, and respecting the unique spirit of historic spaces.
